Week 14: Social Media Management Tools

Social Media Marketing Personified.

I've heard of Hoot Suite before, but it was interesting to be apprised of all the other services available, and what they can do.

I've really learned from experience that the free version or the trial period on just about any software just means getting a version that works at half capacity and is loaded up with advertisements.

Often the free version is extremely glitchy and fails to load. This is akin to programmed obsolescence in software, which basically forces you to pay for a new patch or update.

I'd rather not.

I myself used to use IFTT-If This Then That, which is a free program that reposts say an instagram post to Facebook, Twitter, etc.

I stopped using it because after each new update, you have to re-enter your passwords. I use Keychain on Mac for most of my passwords, because I don't really know them.

I hated having to create a new password and then change it on every device that I use. Eventually, I just stopped caring enough to do it, though I think its an excellent app for those who can be bothered.

I've always wanted Hoot Suite but can't really swing another subscription at the moment. There are other services provided on this list that essentially do the same thing. I might consider getting a low level subscription to one of these- should a day come along where I feel particularly inspired to do so.

  1. I can understand your frustration! I would be cursing up a storm if I had to continually re-enter my passwords. Hootsuite sounds like a great fit, but I can't rationalize the cost as a new business! I am adverse to use a free version because of ads and limited usability.
